ABOUT THE PERFORMER

Próxima Parada grooves while singing about personal growth. At their shows, people have a hell of a lot of fun letting loose, feeling whatever they gotta feel. Songs like Begin Again and It Don't Feel the Same speak to the people they are working to be, and yet, these deeply personal stories become universal, as listeners connect them to their own lives. The result is bobbing heads and feeling uplifted. Their new album, Second Brother, is full of soothing lyrics and groove.

The first single, 24 Brand-New Hours, feels like a giant, joyous reset button. Dreaming Out Loud connects us with people we can no longer connect with. And both A Peace of Their Ownand Feeling Nothingfeature powerful and graceful female lead vocalists. What began as a group of college friends wanting to spread joy to their community in San Luis Obispo, California has led to national tours and their songs reaching a global audience online. It’s already been an incredible journey, and Próxima Parada is just getting started.

Founded nearly 30 years ago while Bluhm and Loiacono were still just students at Chico State, The Mother Hips caught their first big break before they’d even graduated from college, when legendary producer and industry icon Rick Rubin signed the band to his American Recordings label. In the decades to come, the group would go on to release ten critically acclaimed studio albums and cement themselves as architects of a new breed of California rock and soul, one equally informed by the breezy harmonies of the Beach Boys, the funky roots of The Band, and the psychedelic Americana of Buffalo Springfield. Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as “one of the Bay Area’s most beloved live outfits,” the group’s headline and festival performances became the stuff of legend and helped earn them dates with everyone from Johnny Cash and Wilco to Lucinda Williams and The Black Crowes. Rolling Stone called the band “divinely inspired,” while Pitchfork praised their “rootsy mix of 70’s rock and power pop,” and The New Yorker lauded their ability to “sing it sweet and play it dirty.”

Combining punk abandon and tightly-coiled dance music has always been bonded into the band's DNA. It's this core plus their growth and mastery of songwriting that has seen them outlive the mid-2000s 'indie/dance punk' tag and has allowed them to consistently grow lyrically and sonically from album to album. As If is their most transcendent collection of songs yet. "Each album we've made has gotten closer and closer to our live set and this, we're proud to say, is the closest we've come yet. We were heavily influenced by current dance music -- Nina Kraviz, Moodymann, Paranoid London, Rrose and Delroy Edwards were frequently referenced -- and philosophically by the early '90s house records we love on labels like Trax and Dancemania and by artists like Romanthony and Green Velvet. Those records sound great because they're fairly raw attempts to use the technology of the time to ape the New York and Philly disco records that those producers loved. We figured, if those old house records sound like they do because the artists manipulated disco samples with MPCs, why couldn't we just sample ourselves and manipulate the tracks with Ableton Live? The more raw it came out the better it felt, not only because that's what excited us about those old records, but because it felt more punk, which always feels good."

New Jersey-born BRELAND began writing songs as a teenager, inspired by a diverse collection of sounds and eclectic artists like the Beatles, Rascal Flatts, Prince, and his number-one influence, Stevie Wonder. While attending Georgetown University, BRELAND knocked on every possible music-industry door and eventually broke through as a songwriter, landing a number of high-profile cuts with rappers like Elhae and YK Osiris. But as he continued to work on his own music, BRELAND soon posted “My Truck” on social media as a challenge to determine whether he could elicit 500 comments – and after smashing that goal, self-released the track to multi-platform success. Along with paving the way for BRELAND’s signing to Bad Realm/Atlantic Records, “My Truck” sparked headline-worthy streaming success, including hitting #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 and US Viral 50 charts. Praised by Rolling Stone as “1,000 percent the whole package,” BRELAND has been featured in leading press outlets like Genius, Paper, USA TODAY and Billboard’s “Emerging Artists Spotlight,” and in April released a remix of “My Truck” featuring Country superstar Sam Hunt. BRELAND’s self-titled EP debut arrived May 22, featuring both versions of “My Truck” and five other standout co-writes.

WIN TICKETS: The Radiokeys / S.o.S & King Daniel at The Siren

WIN TICKETS to see S.o.S & King Daniel at The Siren!

Rock legend Sammy Hagar’s son Andrew Hagar is coming to town!

S.o.S and King Daniel are bringing the Holy Stoned Revival to Morro Bay. This series features some of Southern California’s finest up and coming indie and folk artists.

S.o.S is self-described as “gonzo garage folk,” an alternative blend of folk, psychedelic garage rock, and grunge. Andrew Hagar, California-based singer-songwriter is the brain child behind S.o.S. Andrew Hagar says that this project was the natural next evolutionary step after plenty of healthy experimentation while on the road. After spending the last three years performing across the US and Europe, with artists like Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, and Sammy Hagar & The Circle, Andrew decided to take a different direction and explore his rock roots.

Also sharing the stage with S.o.S is the folk troubadour, the bum casanova, the one and only, King Daniel.

WIN TICKETS to the Halloween Harvest Ball!

Drawing Date for this Giveaway is 10/23/2018. Winner will be notified by email before 9pm.

The Halloween Harvest Costume Ball is the BIGGEST and MOST SPECTACULAR Halloween event between Los Angeles and San Francisco and is produced by Central Coast LIVE! Events, based in Paso Robles, California.

“There’s really nothing for adults to do for Halloween unless you get invited to a house party or go bar hopping with friends. I wanted to create an upscale, 21-or-older Halloween-themed event — something with high production value ” says Brad Golden, Chief Visioneer of the company.

“Our team works all year with planning, preparation and building props such as a full scale 13 foot guillotine, a torture rack, stockades, electric chair and this year a giant, 20 foot high Scarecrow which we call, “The Gatekeeper” that will guard the front entrance of the Paso Robles Event Center. Guests will have to walk under his legs to get inside the party.

The inaugural event launched last October, 2017 and hundreds were in attendance with three to four times expected this year.

“We have huge plans for growing the costume ball, making it bigger and better each year. This is a high-end, interactive Halloween experience like no other on the Central Coast.” adds Golden.

Drawing Date for this Giveaway is 10/23/2018.

Winner will be notified by email before 9pm.
